Our Story
Brewed in the Wild, Crafted for the Outdoors
Field & Fire Coffee Company was born from the same love of wild places that inspired our magazine Fur, Fin & Fire. Around countless campfires, riverbanks, and backcountry lodges, one thing always brought us together—great coffee. Not just any coffee, but coffee that fuels early mornings in the duck blind, long hikes into remote fishing spots, and slow sunrises in the high country.
We set out to craft coffee that reflects the landscapes we love and the lifestyle we live. Sourced from some of the world’s finest growing regions and roasted in small batches, every blend is designed to bring a taste of adventure to your cup—whether you’re brewing at home or out in the field.
From our signature roasts to our rugged packaging, Field & Fire is built for hunters, anglers, and explorers who appreciate the simple rituals of the outdoors—including a damn good cup of coffee.
This is coffee with a story—one of wilderness, tradition, and connection. And we’re proud to share it with you.
From the Campfire to Your Cup—Welcome to Field & Fire.
Buying fresh coffee from a small roaster like Field & Fire Coffee Company instead of pre-packaged grocery store brands boils down to freshness, flavor, and quality control. Here’s the breakdown:
1. Freshness is everything
Small roasters roast to order or in small batches, meaning the coffee you get was roasted days (sometimes hours) ago.
Grocery store coffee can sit on shelves for weeks or months, losing its aroma and flavor oils.
Coffee’s peak flavor is within 2–4 weeks after roasting—after that, it slowly goes stale.
2. Flavor & complexity
Freshly roasted coffee has brighter, more nuanced flavors—berry, citrus, chocolate, floral notes—because the volatile aromatic compounds are still intact.
Older coffee from store shelves tastes flatter and more bitter because those compounds have dissipated.
Field & Fire Coffee Company can tailor roast profiles to each bean variety, bringing out its best characteristics.
3. Quality of beans
Many small roasters source specialty-grade beans (top 5–10% of global coffee) from small farms, often traceable to a specific region or even a single lot.
Grocery brands often blend beans from multiple sources, sometimes including lower-grade commercial beans to keep costs consistent.
4. Control & Transparency
With Field & Fire Coffee Company, you can know exactly when it was roasted, where it came from, and what’s in your bag.
Big brands don’t usually tell you roast dates—only “best by” dates, which can be misleading.
5. Supporting craft over mass production
Small roasters are craftsmen, not factories—they experiment, taste-test, and refine roasts for the love of coffee.
Buying from Field & Fire Coffee Company supports real people and the coffee-growing communities they partner with.
